A sapling requires not just the right nourishment but also the right environment and security to transform into a tree that nurtures an entire ecology. In the same manner for the healthy growth of an individual into a positive contributor to the community, one needs a harmonious environment to grow. This environment is provided by the family system which comprises of a group of individuals bound by a long-term commitment of love and trust towards each other, sharing goals and values and thus providing a harmonious environment to grow.

Chinmaya Mission, an organization that has been engaged in social services world-wide has taken the initiative towards this, through the project MARG Chennai Family Quiz. The quiz, which is set to have over 1, 00,000 participating families with 7 members per family i.e. 7, 00,000 individuals, has been designed to become an intellectually and emotionally stimulating experience for every individual. The quiz will enable families to learn, live and grow together. The basis of this project is to find the one FAMILY that is living up to a set of values, and in turn contributing towards creating a positive and harmonious environment. The FAMILY participates as one entity and is quizzed on various subjects relevant to a FAMILY. The quiz is to generate awareness and enthusiasm within the FAMILY, which eventually will waterfall onto the society.

Under the pretext of the quiz the FAMILIES will be brought together for various events, FAMILY harmony workshops etc. A book titled ‘For the FAMILY’ has been released for the same. The book is a wealth of information presented in a simple format, covering various topics like relationships, environment, health, management etc. that makes for light reading and discussion by members of the FAMILY. There is something of interest for every FAMILY member in the book. This book will be given to the participating FAMILIES free of cost on registration.

The registration fee, only Rs. 100/- per family, will be the FAMILY’s contribution to this noble cause.
